CourseBuilder - customize MediaLab courses or build your own!

CourseBuilder is a powerful tool that lets you customize MediaLab courses or build your own courses quickly and easily. All institutional subscribers have unlimited access to CourseBuilder for the duration of their subscription at no additional charge.

CourseBuilder is intuitive, easy-to-use, and is fully supported by our Technical Support team. If you can send an email you can make a custom course with pretests, content pages, practice questions, checklist tasks, images, video, downloadable files, and graded exam questions.

Customized course can be assigned just like any other MediaLab course. Students complete them online, in conjunction with other MediaLab courses or independently. Generate reports for these custom courses just as you would for any other MediaLab course, including student performance for individual questions and end-of-course survey results.

Courses can be shared with other users, giving you access to a wide range of compliance and competency courses developed by laboratory professionals. Develop customized compliance courses, and then share them with colleagues at other laboratorys in your lab system. Collaborate with colleagues to write and refine your courses.

CourseBuilder is ideal for many different types of courses:

  • Safety / policy training courses. Document that students have reviewed and answered questions on your safety procedures and policies. Add content pages about your safety and policy manual, or include the manual as a download at the beginning of the course. Then, add graded exam questions covering key elements in your safety procedures and policies. You can view question by question results to see an employee's strengths and weaknesses on procedure and determine if additional training is necessary.
  • Instrument checklists. Document instrument competency for each student. Add checklist tasks for laboratory and point-of-care instruments. These tasks can address specific skills that a student needs to demonstrate in order to safely and accurately use the instrument Administrators and subadministrators can then mark these checklist tasks as "meets standard," "does not meet standard," or "not applicable" for each student. You, subadministrators, and students can see at a glance which tasks a student has not performed satisfactorily and where the student needs individual attention and retraining.
  • Customizing MediaLab courses with site-specific information. No two labs are exactly the same. With CourseBuilder, you can add, edit, or delete information from a MediaLab course to customize it to your specific needs. Add key contact persons and telephone numbers, and edit questions about billing procedures to exactly match your company's policies.
  • Adapting courses to different audiences. Create a single course, make copies, and then modify it for specific audiences. Customize our Medicare Compliance course for managers, billing staff, or couriers. Modify the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens courses for laboratorians, nursing staff, and custodial workers.
